Friends, I can think of no more appropriate way to honor my mother on Mother's Day than to continue the fight against the disease that took her life 42 years ago this October. The My Boobs Were Made for Walking Team has been registered for the fourth year in a row for the Komen Race for the Cure here in Hawaii!! Together, we can make an impact in the fight against breast cancer. Many advances have been made in that time, but there is much more to do.
For me, this is as much about awareness as it is funding research - both are important - but if putting on pink helps raise awareness and remind women to take care of themselves, then I am all for it. Had this level of national dialog been present when my mother had this disease, it may not have taken her life. If we can save even one person with this awareness, by wearing pink or by making noise, it will have been worth it.
We had a fantastic team last year - 81 strong! - and last years participants have vowed to make this one even better. This year, we aim to again come out on top of the 'Friends and Family' Team category!!!
Please consider walking with us!! We have a blast! And your participation can help by showing support for survivors and those currently fighting.
Please also consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of our fundraising efforts. You can donate online with your credit card by clicking the button on this page or the team page.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Race stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.
Hope to see you on Race Day!!
