Join Me in Honoring Sally Anne O'Connor
Team Sally is Walking Again to End Breast Cancer!
It has been just over 7 years ago that Sally died losing her life to a disease that took her from what she loved most… being a mother.
Michael was 13 years old and Sarah was 15 yeas old as they stood by her bed at Hoag Hospital when Sally passed away. Days before Sally called and told me how hard she had tried to stay well…”I exercised and walked around the lake, I ate veggies and green drinks and….I did everything I could, mom.”
To a mom it was heart wrenching. Something we never want another mother to experience. So we walk and we walk and we walk…now in our 80’s, we will never stop as we walk with the goal that no other mother will ever have to experience the pain of leaving their children. Yes, Sally missed Sarah’s graduation from High School and even college from Berkeley!
There was an empty seat in the audience and words not spoken of our loss. Michael’s graduation from High School had that empty seat too.
Michael now wears a tattoo on his arm…a note from his mom which is always with him.
Yes, we , Sally’s mom, and good friend Naomi who we call Sally’s Japanese mom are walking to end Breast cancer with Michael, Sally’s son, in the middle…the 3 of us walk!
With Michael 6 feet tall and in the middle of 2 old tutu’s, we send a message of love to all for it is love that drives us to hit the pavement and make a difference
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Sally Anne O'Connor is one of those people. Now we are celebrating her courageous fight against breast cancer. To honor Sally Anne O'Connor and to celebrate how far she has come, I have decided to support Susan G. Komen in their fight against breast cancer.
Please help me honor Sally Anne O'Connor by raising funds to support Susan G. Komen so they can provide education, screening and treatment programs for women and men in our community, and support cutting-edge research so that one day we can live in a world without breast cancer.
As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside the U.S. government, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
